#2000 – Correct Focus

Good morning people who think about the Lord and His goodness

As I conclude this exhortation to focus on what can’t be taken away from us, I want to leave you with some words from the apostle Paul. He wrote the following while in prison. He knew what it was to suffer greatly in various ways. He faced opposition, pain and suffering…yet we can be encouraged and challenged by what he said. Here it is:

Philippians 4:12-13 (NIV) I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.

The famous biblical quote of ‘I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength’ is not in the context of power, miracles, signs and wonders, but in the context of contentment in God in every circumstance. This is an encouragement to you and to me today as I believe a focus on what can’t be taken away from us fuels this healthy contentment in our unchanging God.

I’ll conclude this thought with a reminder of six things that can’t be taken away from us:

Our relationship with God – our righteousness in God – our inheritance in God – our authority in God – our confidence in God – our calling in God
