#1316 – Like Abraham

Good morning people with an incredibly loving God,

Romans 4:1-3 What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather, discovered in this matter? If, in fact, Abraham was justified by works, he had something to boast about–but not before God. What does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”

If anyone could be justified by good works, it was Abraham. He could have boasted in his goodness, but he didn’t. In fact, it says God is not impressed by our goodness alone. This is important because other people’s opinions of our goodness can keep us from true greatness which is found through faith in Jesus Christ.

Abraham was justified by his faith in God.

You see, justification and righteousness is about us accepting Who God is and what God has done, and not about how good or bad we are. It truly is all about God.

Our challenge is we think it’s more about us than it is about God. Sure you can tell me how much you have done wrong…but let me tell you about the life-changing things God has done for you!!! Sure you can tell me how wonderful you are…but let me tell you that our best falls far short of God’s perfect standard.

And that’s why the Father sent Jesus! He is our perfect standard and He offers us HIS righteousness today…it’s because of Who He is and what He has done that we can be righteous today!

Are you grateful today for Who God is?

Are you grateful today for what God has done?
