#1258 – Humble God

Good morning people who follow Jesus’ example

If anyone had the right to be “proud”, as we would define it, it was Jesus. But He was not; He was incredibly humble.

I see Jesus’ humility many times throughout Scripture. He Who created all of humanity lowered Himself and served humanity. This is humility.

Here’s one example that grabs me.

Matthew 3:13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptised by John.

Surely Jesus was the one who should have baptised John? After all, Jesus was the Son of God and John was one of His created beings.

Even John understood this and said it should be the other way around. But Jesus humbled Himself and John baptised the Saviour of the world.

I see in this example of Jesus – one of many – we should never elevate ourselves and have a superior-than-thou attitude.

If the Saviour of the world can humble Himself and let one of His creations baptise Him, who might God want to use to do something significant in our life?

Is it possible that sometimes we miss God’s work in our lives because we look down on the vessel God desires to use?

Humility is a mark of Jesus and I want it to be my mark too.

How about you?
