#1198 – The Anointing

Good morning people filled with God’s Spirit

Acts 10:36-38 You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, telling the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all. You know what has happened throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached – how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how He went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with Him.

The purpose of the anointing is to do good and see people set free. It is not there just to make us feel good.

But what is the anointing?

My dad, David McCracken, has always said that the anointing is not the fourth person of the Godhead. Yet sometimes “it” is treated that way.

Here’s what dad says about the anointing. It is the Person of the Holy Spirit carrying out the will of the Father on the earth. It is the expression of the Person of the Holy Spirit, not a separate “thing”.

It’s not the anointing that we should rejoice over as much as the ability the Holy Spirit gives to do good and see people set free. Don’t make a shrine to the anointing and just become self-indulgent in feeling good
