Good morning people who love what God loves
Acts 9:3 As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him.
This is the incredible story of the terrorist Saul’s radical encounter with God on the Road to Damascus. If you haven’t read this chapter for a while, I encourage you to take some time and read Acts 9. I believe this is one of the most amazing stories of transformation in human history. In this story we clearly see that no one is in the ’too difficult’ basket for God.
But here’s the main point I want to bring out from this little verse.
God appeared to Saul as a light from heaven. God never appears as darkness, always as light.
God is the light of the world.
John 8:12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
God refers to us, His people, as salt and light.
Matthew 5:14 You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.
The first thing God spoke into existence was light.
Genesis 1:3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
God abides in light and light emanates from HIm. In fact, for eternity we will live in His light.
Revelation 21:23-24 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendour into it.
Today I simply want you to consider what God thinks about light. Tomorrow I want to look at the real battle that is going on in the world today – a battle to pervert light into something different than God intended.
