Good morning people who live to give to others
Acts 4:33-35 With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all. There were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone as he had need.
There’s a connection between power, grace and meeting people’s needs.
It’s great when God meets our needs. God has an incredible way of moving people’s hearts to meet our needs. The answer to our needs can often come from the most unlikely place. Many times God meets our needs through people, and many times through people that we would not have expected.
We love our needs being met, but my question today is how often do we meet other people’s needs?
Meeting other people’s needs is part of the privilege and responsibility of being part of the family of God.
I see in this passage a couple of things.
Although grace was on everyone, the focus here is on those who owned land or houses. Now I need you to hear what I’m about to say clearly and not allow it to be licence for not giving (make sure you read to the end).
I believe there are people gifted to give. If that is you, lean into that gift and be generous – your giving blesses many! For you who have this gift, I notice this passage says, ’from time to time’. In other words, there will be times where you have more and can give more than at other times. Keep in mind there are seasons.
Now for the clarification.
We all have the ability to give and bless others. We must remember we are created in the image of God and at the core of who God is, He is generous. Sure you might not be able to give financially (but be open to God asking you to give out of your lack), but we can all give generously of our love, gifts, time, care and honour. All these things enrich other people’s lives.
Let’s live to give and be a source of blessing to others.
