#1134 – Loving and Caring

Good morning people who love as Jesus did

(By Margaret McCracken)

Proverbs 17:17 A friend loves at all times.

Good relationships are built on love and care, and the motivation is selflessness. People who are selfish don’t make good friends and probably don’t have many friends.

Question: “Am I characterised by being selfless or selfish?”

Selflessness says: I put your needs before my needs. I will go above and beyond. I will make sacrifices for you. I care deeply for you and I feel for you. My love motivates me to serve you.

The Bible says to weep with those who weep, and rejoice with those who rejoice. This conveys: I am here for you. You can count on me. I am your friend.

Love isn’t fickle, that is, here today and gone tomorrow. It’s consistent and constant and doesn’t depend on circumstances. Jesus loved despite the failings and sins of his disciples and others. It is a challenge to us all but the world needs to see more love and less bitterness and criticism.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8a Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

Wow! What would the world look like if everyone lived by these verses? I am challenged to my very core by them.

“Father, please help me do better, by Your grace, in all my relationships.”
