Good morning people who turn to God
Acts 3:19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.
You can never live completely at peace and be refreshed while there is sin in your life that has not been repented of.
The word repent here means to think differently. Freedom comes when we live by the truth of God’s Word. There is a real fight for our focus in our world today. Everywhere we turn we are bombarded with a doctrine of self and pleasure. The promised joy-filled result of selfish living is a lie that destroys.
It’s time to think differently. It’s time to think biblically.
This passage also instructs us to turn to God. The truth is God is often the last place we go yet it should be the first. The truth is no amount of self-righteousness is good enough or able to wash away our sins. Only God can do that.
You can’t be turned towards two things at once.
When we are turned towards sin, God is not in the centre of our vision. Herein lies our greatest problem. It is not so much that we are looking towards sin but that we are not looking towards God.
The cure for sin is to change our thinking and look towards God.
The promised result is our sins will be wiped away (obliterated) and we will be refreshed by God (we will catch our breath). Now that’s good news!
