Good morning people who listen to God
Many times we want to hear God confirm what we want to do, more than we want to hear what God really thinks about our situation. That’s right, you read that correctly.
Let’s be honest here today.
The power of God’s Word is not in confirming what you want to do but in directing what you should do.
There is no lasting power or eternal fruit in trying to get God to confirm what you deeply desire to do or have already decided to do. Yet that is so often what people do.
People misuse the Word of God to confirm their own choices. People misquote scripture or use it out of context to give credibility to their own sinful decisions. I’ve heard of people using scriptures to justify very poor decisions. But the Word of God should be handled correctly.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
So how do you use the Word of God?
Do you allow it to shape your life or do you use misuse it to justify your life?
I know I am lovingly confronting some of you today but I care too much to pretty things up.
The potential problem today is that those who often need to allow a word like this to redirect them onto a right path are blind to truth. Let me give you something to think about. If several people who love you have said something contrary to what you are doing, and you and them both have scriptures to support your position, maybe, just maybe, you might be wrong. If you are in that position today, simply and honestly ask God to reveal truth to you by the Holy Spirit…then listen.
John 16:13 But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come.
