Good morning my friends who honour others
What are you characterised by: humility or pride?
It’s time for honesty here. Over the years I have struggled with pride. I have had too much focus on myself and my abilities at times. Thanks to God and those who love me enough to speak the truth in love, I have intentionally worked at humbling myself. Unfortunately there have also been times when I have been humbled under the mighty hand of God because I didn’t humble myself. Trust me, humbling yourself is less painful!!!!
We need to understand, humility is not weakness and pride is not strength. Did you get that? Humility is godly and pride is sinful; now that’s the truth that will set us free.
Our focus should be on the power of God in us and not on our own strength or ability. Our focus should be on preferring one another in love and not on meeting our own needs or desires. Humility takes the way of the cross but it results in resurrection life!
Here’s a passage that paints a good picture of how humility works.
Luke 14:8-11 When someone invites you to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honour, for a person more distinguished than you may have been invited. If so, the host who invited both of you will come and say to you, “Give this man your seat.” Then, humiliated, you will have to take the least important place. But when you are invited, take the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he will say to you, “Friend, move up to a better place.” Then you will be honoured in the presence of all your fellow guests. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.
