Good morning people who follow God’s commands
I share a lot about God’s mercy, grace and forgiveness. I also share a lot about knowing God better. Our relationship with Him is most important.
But I am not soft on sin just because God is so good and grace abounds.
In my own life I am aware that good intentions are great, but obedience is required. I am aware that sacrificing for God is great, but obedience is better. And so it is true for all of us.
Today I want to point us towards obeying what God has said. Let me share this passage and then comment on it.
Luke 12:47-48 That servant who knows his master’s will and does not get ready or does not do what his master wants will be beaten with many blows. But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.
What does this passage say to you? What does God want to say to you through His Word? Why don’t you ask Him now and then listen.
Let me just make one little comment today.
God is not a harsh judge with a focus on punishment; that’s not the purpose of this passage. Sure we do reap what we sow and if we disobey God there are consequences. But in this passage we can see something about the nature of God and that is He is just. He cannot violate Who He is and He is just.
Today this gives me confidence in Him but it also encourages me forward to live a life of obedience.
