#956 – Draw Aside

Good morning my friends

I feel it’s timely to remind us all that we need regular times of drawing aside to spend quality time with God.

God is always with us as the Father was always with Jesus. It’s very reassuring to know that the Sovereign God is always present; always here. We can enjoy being with God every moment of every day. It’s wonderful to know we can communicate with God in every situation, all the time. Praise God.

But as with Jesus, we need to regularly draw aside to a quiet place to pray.

Mark 6:45-46 Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of Him to Bethsaida, while He dismissed the crowd. After leaving them, He went up on a mountainside to pray.

Jesus often withdrew to lonely and quiet places to spend time with His Father. What a great example to us. On one hand, you wouldn’t think this was necessary, after-all, the Father was with Him. But there’s something special and very necessary to have times, regular times, where it’s just us and God.

So, when was the last time you spent quality times, just you and God, chatting and enjoying one another’s company? Pastors and leaders, you’re not too busy to do this regularly. You may feel like you are, but respectfully I challenge you: this is not a time issue but a priority issue. It is with me too at times. I need to readjust regularly. How about you?

For all of us, let’s plan some time this week, quality time, just to spend with God. And why not next week too…and the following week.
