Good morning people who need God in the storm
Life deals up some pretty frightening storms at times. It’s in the storm we can wonder where Jesus is.
Mark 6:47-51 When evening came, the boat was in the middle of the lake, and He (Jesus) was alone on land. He saw the disciples straining at the oars because the wind was against them. About the fourth watch of the night He went out to them, walking on the lake. He was about to pass by them, but when they saw Him walking on the lake, they thought He was a ghost. They cried out, because they all saw Him and were terrified. Immediately He spoke to them and said, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid!” Then He climbed into the boat with them, and the wind died down.
I see a few things that are worth remembering when we are in the storm.
Jesus saw the disciples in the storm before they saw Him. God sees everything and knows what we are going through.
Jesus waited before He went out to His disciples who were struggling in the storm. Sometimes we think God is late, but He never is.
Jesus went towards them but was about to pass by them. Sometimes it appears Jesus is passing by us rather than coming to us. Sometimes He does things differently to what we think He should.
The disciples didn’t recognise Jesus in the storm and sometimes it’s hard for us to recognise Him also when life’s tough.
What should we do?
Call out to Him. Jesus responded to His disciples and He will respond to us also.
