Good morning people who follow the pattern
Mark 4:35-41 That day when evening came, He said to His disciples, “Let us go to the other side.” Leaving the crowd behind, they took Him along, just as He was, in the boat. There were also other boats with Him. A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, don’t You care if we drown?” He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to His disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey Him!”
Jesus exercised authority over the storm in the same way we are intended to.
His instruction was “Quiet! Be still!” Small, yet very powerful words.
Look at the result of these words: The disciples knew something was different about Jesus. Their desire to know Jesus better and start to grasp Who He really is increased.
Now look at what the Word instructs us to do.
Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.
We are instructed to be still and the result is we will know that He is God. The phrase be still literally means cease, hush. Sound familiar?
It was in the storm that Jesus gave the command to cease and hush. Yes it was to the storm but I believe the same instruction applies to us (as seen in Psalm 46:10). The result in both cases will be the same
