One of the damaging things to many people’s personal times with God over the years has been people’s expectations of what a quiet time looks like. I do not want to do that but I do want to point us to Jesus.

In all things, Jesus is our example. Jesus prayed often; sometimes He prayed for a few minutes or an hour or two while at times He prayed all night, and at least once He spent forty days in prayer and fasting.

Jesus’ power came from prayer. He spent time with the Father and He listened to what the Father had to say. He lived life out of hearing God.

I’m sure you talk to God at times. Many of us pray regularly, even daily. But when was the last time we had an extended time in prayer?

Jesus did. I’m sure He did not always go out with a list to pray through, or even knowing everything He was going to talk about. You see, that’s the beauty of relationship
