Good morning persistent people of God
Romans 2:7-8 To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honour and immortality, He will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.
Two options for us to receive: eternal life or wrath and anger. I know which one I want!
Look at the focus of these two groups of people.
Those who receive wrath and anger are people who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil. It is so easy to live a selfish life. My flesh cries out loudly too often. My desire for me to feel good and for me to have my needs met has been too strong for too long in my life. I don’t want to be this type of person and I’m sure you don’t either.
Then there’s another group; the group that receives eternal life. But look at the first thing it says about these people: they persist in doing good. This little statement grabbed me. It’s easy to do good when you feel like it or if you can see the benefit of it to you. But it’s far more powerful to do good when it’s difficult; to persist in doing good. The focus when persisting in doing good is not on receiving but on giving. This is what Jesus did for us.
Today let’s make it our goal to persist in doing good. What a difference this could make in someone’s life.
