#818 – God Is Faithful

Good morning people who overcome temptation

Matthew 3:16-4:3 As soon as Jesus was baptised, He went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on Him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is My Son, whom I love; with Him I am well pleased.” Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, He was hungry. The tempter came to Him and said, “If You are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

It’s interesting and important to note the circumstances around which Jesus was tempted.

If you’re anything like me, you might wonder why you are tempted when you and God are doing really well; when you are avoiding things of the flesh and are walking in the Spirit.

Have you ever wondered why you are tempted when you don’t put yourself in temptations way?

Sometimes it feels like temptation comes looking for you!

Look what happened to Jesus just after He was baptised, heaven opened over Him, He saw the Spirit come on Him, the Father spoke affirming words to Him, He was led by the Spirit and He had fasted forty days and forty nights…the tempter came to Him.

This doesn’t seem right…but it is often the way it happens. Being aware is part of the success of the battle. Temptation does not just come when you are in the wrong place or because you need to spend more time with God.

But here’s the good news.

1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.
