Good morning people who love and serve God
We live in a time where there appears to be many ways to “God”, and having God in your life, at least to a certain level, is acceptable. I mean we shouldn’t get too radical, after all, God plus other things is alright…isn’t it?
What does God think about this?
Exodus 34:12-14 Be careful not to make a treaty with those who live in the land where you are going, or they will be a snare among you. Break down their altars, smash their sacred stones and cut down their Asherah poles. Do not worship any other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.
It’s so easy to get caught up in the thinking “everyone else does it”. This is most dangerous when it is subtle and through friendships. I think it is very wise counsel to be careful around those who you have regular contact with.
Part of the process to live a God-honouring life is to have firm convictions and make unshakeable decisions before embarking on relationships. It’s too easy to get caught up when you are with other people. It’s too easy to do the wrong thing without intentionally meaning to. That’s why there needs to be a certain level of discipline and strong resolve. Where something needs to be cut off, cut it off. Where something needs to be changed, change it. Where something needs to be discontinued, stop it.
God doesn’t want to share the worship of our lives with others. He is an all or nothing God. This is not arrogance; it is simply the way it is; it is the right way.
Deuteronomy 6:13 Fear the Lord your God, serve Him only and take your oaths in His Name.
