#5730 – Our Reputation

Good morning people who desire to be known for the right reasons.

I am enjoying our time of deep meditation together in the Book of Proverbs. I pray Father is speaking to you through the content, but I also pray that you are discovering that there is more to see in God’s Word.

Now, let’s go to today’s scripture.

Proverbs 10:9 MEV He who walks uprightly walks surely, but he who perverts his ways will be known.

The word uprightly means completeness, and it refers to morally innocent (integrity).

The word surely means a place of refuge, and it refers to assurance, boldly and confidence.

Therefore, the Bible is saying that a person who walks in a complete way that is morally innocent, they can walk with an assurance and confidence because they are in the place of God’s refuge and strength. This is beautiful.

Now, consider the alternative. It’s not so pretty.

Scripture tells us that people who pervert their way – or more accurately, people who pervert God’s way – they will be known.

What does this mean?

The word infamous comes to mind. Infamous means well known for some bad quality or deed. This is not God’s desire for any of us, but unfortunately, our choices can put us in the limelight for the wrong reasons.

What’s the answer?

Firstly, make better decisions in the first place. None of us can be perfect all of the time, but some more wisdom and self-control could help prevent many disasters.

Secondly, if wrong decisions are made, we need to fall upon the grace of God in deep humility and true repentance. God is quick to forgive, but He only responds to genuine hearts.

I believe these are days when God wants His people to reclaim purity in every area. May God be glorified by our lives.
