#5697 – Accurate Interpretation

Good morning people who earnestly desire to accurately hear what God is saying.

Proverbs 1:5-6 MEV A wise man will hear and will increase learning, and a man of understanding will attain wise counsel, to understand a proverb and the interpretation, the words of the wise and their riddles.

Father wants me to talk about accurate interpretation today. It’s imperative we get this right.

An interpretation is not what we want something to mean. Oh, how the world is mucked up because of this wrong ideology!

An interpretation is an accurate representation of what the original person said.

Think about this from a natural perspective. I’ve preached in countries where English is not the native language. At times, I have preached using an interpreter.

What would happen if my interpreter heard my words but said something different; something they wanted to say?

The result would be disastrous!

And yet, far too many times, this is what people do with what God says! People want to hear what people want to hear. This is not what people of understanding do!

Spiritual interpretation is accurately hearing what God is actually saying and meaning.

So, how do we accurately interpret God and His Word?

Part of the answer is what we talked about yesterday: people of understanding will attain wise counsel. But please, make sure it is godly counsel from people submitted to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Years ago, I found myself praying, “Father, I don’t want to be right – I want to know truth.”

This is what I want for you, and this is what I want for me – knowing truth. And this can only happen where there is accurate interpretation.
