#5414 – God in Darkness

Good morning people whose God is not afraid of the dark.

Exodus 20:21 NIV The people remained at a distance, while Moses approached the thick darkness where God was.

It’s interesting that God was in the thick darkness rather than in unapproachable light.

Now I want to say a couple of things.

God is the God of light. The scripture makes this so clear and it repeats it over and over.

From the beginning, God created light and He separated light from darkness. He went further than this and He saw that the light was good.

It’s time for the people of God to be people of the light.

However, at times we find ourselves in dark places. This can take on different forms, but we know darkness when we experience it.

The following couple of scriptures come to mind and I believe they will be an encouragement to many who are reading this today. May life flow in the form of hope as you read the truth of God’s Word.

Psalms 139:11-12 NIV If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.

Psalms 23:4 NIV Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

God is not afraid of the dark – not at all. In fact, darkness is as light to God.

Why?

Because He is light and He is greater than the darkest darkness!

I pray you know the light of God, even in the darkest valley.
