#5252 – Guard Your Words

Good morning people who give careful attention to what you say about yourself.

Jeremiah looked at the natural evidence of his life when God spoke to him about His divine purpose and calling for Jeremiah.

We often do the same.

It’s interesting how God responds to this. It’s not very pastoral. God didn’t gently step through how Jeremiah felt and enter into a long dialogue.

Here’s what God said to Jeremiah:

Jeremiah 1:7 NIV But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you.”

“Don’t say that!”

Simple. Direct. Powerful. Life-changing. Empowering.

I still remember the day back about 15 years ago that I said to my Dad that I felt like a kid in the ministry compared to many others. Dad’s reply to me is still vivid in my mind. He simply and strongly said, “I never want to hear you say that again.”

Simple. Direct. Powerful. Life-changing. Empowering!

What we declare about ourselves should be in alignment with what God says about us. After all, He knows us much better than we know ourselves. And don’t forget, He is for us!

Are there some words about yourself that God doesn’t want you to speak anymore?
