#5198 – A Present Peace

Good morning people who walk life with the Prince of Peace.

John 16:33 NIV “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Even in Jesus talking to His disciples about His upcoming death, He is still intentional about speaking comfort to their hearts. What a wonderful and lovely Saviour our God is.

This verse is a very well-known and often quoted scripture, but I feel like there is a deeper reality of truth than many believers walk in. I know that I am personally growing in God’s revelation to me about this.

Being in Christ is more powerful in our lives than being in trouble. This statement offends some because it is heard as a devaluing of what they are going through. But this is not what this statement is intended to do.

Jesus said that true peace is found in Him. These are His words. And remember, He said this with the cross looming just in front of Him.

He then tells us that he has overcome the world. By this He means that He is greater than anything and everything in the world, and He is also greater than anything and everything that we will face in the world.

I love how the apostle John wrote it in the following verse:

1 John 4:4 NIV You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

If we are in Christ, then peace is available to us. May we access this by faith today in Jesus’ name.
