Good morning people who are connected to the author of life.

John 15:5 NIV “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

Jesus is the main part, not us.

Branches are connected to the vine. Vines are not connected to branches.

Sure, from the outside, we see one vine that includes branches, but when it comes to our spiritual reality, clarity is needed here.

A vine is still a vine even when it has minimal branches. But a branch cannot stay living if it is disconnected from a vine. The vine is the main part.

Adding Jesus to our life doesn’t work. He is life! We get added into Him – He does not get added into us!

I love the concise and clear words of Jesus: “Apart from me you can do nothing.”

We can produce nothing that is eternally worthwhile outside of our connection to Jesus. Nothing.

Yes, we can ‘do stuff’, but we cannot produce fruit. We can be busy, but we cannot be successful in the eyes of God outside of a full dependence on His life being our life.

May our connection of intimacy with Jesus be deepened in the days that we live in.
