#5148 – God Speaks and it Happens

Good morning people who take great confidence in the Alpha and Omega.

John 14:28-29 NIV “You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe.

The more I am meditating my way through John 14 with a focus on who God is, the more I am so over-awed by how wonderful, beautiful and kind God is. It’s a humbling thing to be loved so deeply by such a perfect God.

In this scripture, Jesus explains that He tells us some things before they happen, so that when they do happen, we will believe. Isn’t that nice!

Because God is Spirit, He lives in the eternal realm. He exists above and beyond all created things, including time and space. He is omniscient (all knowing) because He is omnipresent (present everywhere, always). God is the beginning and the end; the first and the last; the Alpha and the Omega.

And this is all so important because it describes who God is. It’s important that we keep His supremacy at the forefront of our minds. Simply put, in every way, God is more!

And yet He chooses to – oh I love that statement – to share His eternal plan with us; the Father’s created sons and daughters.

God could let us just stumble our way through the darkness without any verbalised hope for our future. But He doesn’t!

God shares His heart, His thoughts, His plans and His purpose with us. He invites us into a place of intimate fellowship with Him.

And all of this is fuel to our faith. Because He shares His heart ahead of time, we can put our trust and our confidence in Him. If God said it, it will happen.
