#4794 – Like Little Children

Good morning people who take the posture of humility before God.

Matthew 11:25-26 NIV At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.

A wise and learned person has acquired lots of information. They “know stuff’. With this knowledge, there often comes an element of pride, both in their accomplishment of gaining the knowledge, and also in the knowledge itself.

Increased knowledge often results in decreased desire to learn from others.

Yet, one of the characteristics of little children is their constant curiosity and a desire to learn and know stuff. The most common question from a child is, “Why?” Yes, it can drive a parent nuts – especially if it is used as a reason to not obey – but when asked sincerely, it is an essential part of their development.

It is the Father’s will to hide spiritual mysteries and deep revelation from those who consider themselves wise and learned in their own eyes and ability. He wants to reveal it to the ones who know they have so much to learn from Him. He is looking for humility and dependence upon Him.

When people look up and say, “Speak to me Father; teach me Your ways”, He is pleased. This delights His heart and He loves to respond.

How do you approach the Lord God Almighty?
