#4592 – Not of the World

Good morning people who are distinctively different from the world

Jude 1:22-23 NIV Be merciful to those who doubt; save others by snatching them from the fire; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.

God has called us all to the ministry of reconciliation; that is, to see the lost found and the dead raised in Jesus Christ. This is our commission as followers of Jesus Christ.

But Jude also clearly states the truth that this can only truly be done if we hate even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.

What does this mean?

If you read the whole chapter, it becomes clear. But for our brief time together today, it is simply summed up in these couple of verses:

Proverbs 8:13 NIV To fear the Lord is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.

Romans 12:9 NIV Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.

We cannot reach the world if we are just like them. Jesus wasn’t like sinners, but He most definitely loved them. We are called to do the same.
