#4512 – Spiritual Maturity

Good morning people who have the right perspective of trials and tests

The following scripture is one of the most important scriptures for the times we live in. I’ve spoken from it many times, but please, approach it afresh with me today as we lean in to hear what the Spirit is saying to us.

James 1:2-4 NIV Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

No sane person likes going through trials for the sake of going through trials. The goal is not to suffer and be tested in our faith.

The goal of our lives is spiritual maturity and completeness, not lacking anything. Now this sounds wonderful! But what is the journey to this wonderful destination?

Trials + perseverance = maturity.

Let me clarity something: Maturity and completeness, not lacking anything is found only in Jesus Christ. If we are born again, we absolutely have what we need; we have Jesus! This is our legal position.

But, like ‘being transformed by the renewing of our mind’ is necessary to step into the fulness of our present reality in Christ, so too is persevering joyfully through trials.

So, when you face a trial, here is a brilliant question to ask God in prayer:

Father, what do you want to produce in me; what do you want to mature and bring to completeness?

When He answers, walk towards what He says and keep this as your focus.
