Good morning people who are exceedingly glad in Who God is
I Thessalonians 5:16 NIV Rejoice always.
“I can’t do this Steve!”
I hear you!
And if the command is to rejoice about everything going on in my life, I agree with you.
But Paul brings the truth of this statement into greater clarity as we read the following verse:
Philippians 4:4 NIV Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
Oh, I’m so glad for that clarification Paul!
We need to understand that Paul was writing this from a prison – and not even a little bit like our modern-day, first-world prisons. He had been severely beaten and his present environment was synonymous with death.
Yet he knew a secret, and that secret was to magnify his God, not his present reality.
Rejoice in the Lord always.
“You’ve got to be kidding me Paul! You’re in a prison!”
I will say it again: Rejoice!
