#3486 – Your Work

Good morning people who always work as unto the Lord

As followers of Jesus Christ, we have the privilege of walking with and working for our Lord and King in our place of employment.

To be clear, we are never primarily working for a person – it’s always for the Lord.

And this should determine ‘how’ we work; our attitude, our ethics, our punctuality, our honouring, our commitment, our focus.

Yet too often, many Christians give God glory on Sunday and their employers grief on Monday. This ought not to be.

“But Steve, my boss is not a nice person (and that’s putting it politely!)”

Without diminishing the challenge that comes with that, I want to point you to what the Word of God says, and also to the God-ordained opportunity for you to shine His light.

1 Peter 2:12-13, 18 NIV Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us. Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority: whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority…Slaves (employees), in reverent fear of God submit yourselves to your masters (employers), not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh.”
