#3310 – Seventy Times Seven

Good morning people whose great God loves them and forgives them repeatedly

Thank You Father for the promise of seventy times seven.

One of the challenges we face when reading the Bible is we often focus only on what we need to do, and miss what God’s Word is saying about God Himself. Here’s a prime example:

Matthew 18:21-22 NKJV Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.”

Sure, we can accurately take from this passage the instruction to forgive people much more than we think we should have to. Christians forgive people.

But there is something more profound that we often miss in this passage.

This scripture is primarily a reflection of Father’s heart towards us. He is not an “I will forgive you three times but then you’re out” God. He is a seventy times seven God towards us!

I don’t know about you, but I am sure glad for this in my life!

Thank You Father that You are much more patient with us than we are with others. And Father, if there are some readers today who are really struggling to receive your ‘seventy times seven’ forgiveness, mercy, grace and kindness, would you help them today to step towards You and receive. Thank You Father. Amen.
