Good morning people who live because of what Jesus has done for you

Thank You Father for the gift of righteousness.

I love what righteousness is: it is returning to favour with.

Sin separated us from God. Sin made us fall out of favour with God.

But God’s gift of righteousness returned us to favour with our Perfect Father!!!

God’s gift of grace and God’s gift of righteousness go hand in hand, and we see them both in the verse we looked at yesterday:

Romans 5:17 NIV For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!

Like grace, we can’t earn God’s righteousness by our good works. If we could, that would be called self-righteousness. In fact, someone who thinks they are so amazing and everything they do is so good is often referred to as ‘self-righteous’ – it’s never a good thing.

Thank You Father, that although I was once far off (I was distant from You), through Jesus Christ I have been brought near (I have been returned to favour with You). Thank You Father for the gift of righteousness.
