#2583 – Helping Others

Good morning people who love others enough to walk with them
Jesus said:
Matthew 7:3-5 (NIV) 3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brothers eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye, when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brothers eye.
It is not our place to judge others, but it is our place to help others move forward in their relationship with God. We can only do this if our first priority is to live a God-honouring life; a life that allows the Holy Spirit to reveal the things in our lives that need to be removed.
Then we can see things in other people’s lives that need to be removed for the sake of their freedom and relationship with God. But note, Jesus did not say to ‘point out the speck from your brother’s eye’, but to ‘remove’ it.
Pointing out faults is easy – walking forward with people takes effort and time and it is based on love.
Next time you feel to point something out to someone else, STOP and check your motivation. If it is not because you love them and want to help them move forward, don’t speak.
