#1196 – New Things

Good morning people with an incredible God

Acts 10:9-16 About noon the following day as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray. He became hungry and wanted something to eat, and while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance. He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners. It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles of the earth and birds of the air. Then a voice told him, “Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.” “Surely not, Lord!” Peter replied. “I have never eaten anything impure or unclean.” The voice spoke to him a second time, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.” This happened three times, and immediately the sheet was taken back to heaven.

God sees things differently then we do.

God is a God Who does new things, and if we are not careful, we will miss it because of God’s last instruction.

Things have changed dramatically from the Old Testament to the New Testament, and I for one am extremely thankful for this! But God still does new things in new ways today. He does this because He is both a creative God and a God Who knows best and knows what is needed in different seasons and situations.

We need to ensure we continue to listen to what God is saying now.

I think we also need to be careful not to judge people who God has made new but we still see them as impure or unclean. There comes a time on the journey when change must occur, but it is not our place to judge. Let God be sovereign and let’s commit to loving and listening.

Is it possible that God is working in your life right now but you are not seeing it because it is different to what happened last time?

Is it possible that God is doing something good but we expected things to be done differently?

Are you ready for God to do a new thing, in a new way, in a new time?

Are you ready?
