Good morning people who love people selflessly
Acts 4:8-10 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them: “Rulers and elders of the people! If we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a cripple and are asked how he was healed, then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed.
In this story Peter and John were arrested because they did an act of kindness to someone in the Name of Jesus.
Sometimes you may get persecuted for an act of kindness.
Sure it might not be in the form of beatings or imprisonment, but maybe it’s in attacks by family members, friends, work colleagues or a stranger. Maybe you have done something kind out of a genuine heart only to have it rejected, or maybe you were personally rejected.
How do you feel in that moment?
It’s easy to want to give up and say “Why bother?” But I’m reminded of the last words in Galatians 5:23 after it has listed the fruit of the Spirit.
Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
