#1095 – What Jesus Says

Good morning people who listen carefully

John 21:20-23 Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them. (This was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and had said, “Lord, who is going to betray You?”) When Peter saw him, he asked, “Lord, what about him?” Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow Me.” Because of this, the rumour spread among the brothers that this disciple would not die. But Jesus did not say that he would not die; He only said, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?”

Too many times our hearing is impaired by self-will.

It’s very easy to hear what we want to hear or what we think we should hear. The key in life is to hear what Jesus actually says; this is where the power lies.

When God speaks, we would be wise to not take away from nor add to it.

Freedom is found in what God says.

John 8:31-32 To the Jews who had believed Him, Jesus said, “If you hold to My teaching, you are really My disciples. Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.”

Faith also comes from hearing what God says.

Romans 10:17 Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the Word of Christ.

The principle of hearing what is actually said would probably save us a lot of heartache in human relationships also. Too many relationships are damaged due to hearsay. Be very careful not to fill in the blanks with things you hear about others; you just might be filling them in wrongly.

Love believes the best.
