Good morning people who love like Jesus did
God’s heart is always for people.
Sometimes it’s easy to lose this heart of love when people don’t do what we think they should. This sometimes even carries over to people who don’t accept Christ.
But what was Jesus’ example to us?
Luke 9:51-56 As the time approached for Him (Jesus) to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem. And He sent messengers on ahead, who went into a Samaritan village to get things ready for Him; but the people there did not welcome Him, because He was heading for Jerusalem. When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked, “Lord, do You want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them?” But Jesus turned and rebuked them, and they went to another village.
I read some of the accounts of the disciples and shake my head. Sometimes I wonder what Jesus saw in them. I think there’s still hope for me!
But then I’m reminded that God knows the potential in all of us. Isn’t that great! He sees beyond where we are to where He can take us. I’m grateful for God’s goodness…
…now back on to my point…
The disciples were quick to pronounce judgement on people who didn’t accept Jesus. I wonder if we do that sometimes too.
Look at Jesus’ response…He rebuked them. I think in part He was saying, “You guys don’t get it, do you.”
I pray we all get it today. God’s heart is always for people. Say that out loud. Now think about the most difficult people you know. Think about the ones who appear far off from God and even anti-God…
…God loves those people! And I believe He would have us love them too
