#1011 – Choosing Daily

Good morning people who are careful with how they live

Have you ever had times when you feel slack or can’t be bothered? Maybe you’re reading this and can’t be bothered answering my question…

With some things it doesn’t matter if you have a short season of slackness. Sure it might not be best for you but it probably won’t do you a lot of damage.

But then there are other things that just one decision can dramatically alter your life. You might find yourself saying, “But it was only a moment…it was only one time…it wasn’t like I meant it…” You know the kind of things I am talking about.

Let me remind us all today of a well known passage, but I want to draw our attention to one word.

Luke 9:23-25 Then He (Jesus) said to them all: “If anyone would come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow Me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for Me will save it. What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self?

Can you see the one word I am talking about?

It’s the word daily.

Daily seems to come around with incredible regularity doesn’t it? Jesus knows what He is talking about here when He instructs us that if we want to follow Him, we must walk the path of self-denial and self-sacrifice DAILY. Missing a day here or there might not seem too problematic…but it also might be a life-altering and soul-destroying moment.

If you have already experienced one of those moments, I commend God’s grace and forgiveness to you. Take responsibility for your sin and then reach out and exchange it for God’s righteousness. God is so good.

And for all of us today, let’s live making Godly choices…daily.
