#3845 – Talk About God

Good morning people who talk about the goodness of God

Psalm 73:28 NIV But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all Your deeds. As Asaph writes this Psalm, he finishes by declaring that he will tell of God’s deeds.

If you read this, and many other Psalms, there is an acknowledgement of the enemy and his plans, as well as an acknowledgement of the reality of pain and suffering.

Some believe we can’t be truthful about what we are going through, and somehow, they attribute it to a lack of faith. I don’t see this scripturally. Transparency is a healthy thing.

But Asaph, like David in many places, leads us through our realities to the right destination, and that destination is the last line of the last verse of this Psalm: I will tell of all Your deeds.

Paraphrased, I read it like this:

“Yes, there are challenges, and there is much I don’t understand. Yes, in some things I feel like the enemy is winning, but I want to talk about God and His goodness! Even in darkness, God invites me to be close to Him! Even in weakness, the Sovereign Lord is Refuge! My God has been faithful and I am so grateful for His love, mercy and grace!”

“What will you talk about most today?”

“Where will you end up in your conversation?”
