Good morning people who are a part of something significantly bigger than one person.
1 Corinthians 12:12-14 NIV Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.
In my office, I have a large mural of a beautiful forest scene with brilliant light shining through. It is glorious, and I love pacing my floor in prayer while seeing this mural. As I was doing this recently, I heard the following phrase:
One tree does not make a forest.
The beauty of a forest is that it is not a single tree but many trees combined to produce something magnificent. Individual trees can be magnificent, but many magnificent trees make the forest so much better than just one tree.
One believer does not make a church.
The Bible uses the metaphor of a body to describe the church. 1 Corinthians 12 is a particularly descriptive Scripture that clarifies this spiritual reality.
How is your connection and commitment to being part of the body of Christ?
Do you have a healthy view of being part of something bigger and better than just you?
