#6536 – Confession Required

Good morning people who enter into blessing through the gift of repentance.

Psalms 32:1-7 NIV “Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit. When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.” And you forgave the guilt of my sin. Therefore let all the faithful pray to you while you may be found; surely the rising of the mighty waters will not reach them. You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.”

We are told that we are blessed when our sins are forgiven. Forgiveness is a wonderful gift from God and a reflection of His extravagantly good heart towards us. And when God forgives, He forgets; the Lord does not count our sins against us.

But when we keep silent and do not confess our sins, it does not go well with us. Self-deception is a terribly destructive force that keeps people from living in the blessing of God.

God’s desire is to forgive our sins, but we must acknowledge them as sin.

To stand in opposition to God’s blessing that is released through His kingdom ways, is to self-sabotage our lives. Denying sin is akin to opposing God. We might not be intentionally trying to stand against God, but we most definitely are stopping the flow of His blessing and favour in our lives.

When covering up replaces confession of sin, we feel a heaviness of the hand of God rather than His protection that He yearns to give. Transparency, authenticity, humility and accountability are essential part of a disciple’s life. Walking without wearing a mask is vital if we are going to live free from the accusation of the enemy.

Are you being honest with the Lord about the moments of sin in your life?

How you allowed moments of sin to become a habit of sin?

Have you humbly confessed your sin to a godly leader who can walk with you towards greater freedom?

God is for you, and He wants you to know that confession is a pathway to freedom.
