Good morning people who commit yourself to the way of truth for your whole life.
1 Timothy 4:1 NIV The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.
This verse is confronting, but it is worthy of our attention and prayer.
The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith.
You can’t abandon what you did not have. To abandon the faith must mean that you once had faith. This is what the Spirit clearly says.
Mankind cannot choose God in their total depraved state by themselves, but they can accept God’s call to them through the revealing of the Holy Spirit.
But as we see throughout the whole counsel of the Word of God, man can accept God and man can reject God. We can choose the way of faith and we can abandon the way of faith.
The pathway to abandoning the faith is following deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.
Not everything preached, tweeted or posted is the truth. As the people of God, we must become more discerning. We can only be discerning if we know the truth, and we can only know the truth if we know God’s Word and hold on to God’s Word. If this is our sincere posture and our absolute resolve, there is no need to fear ending up in the place of abandoning our faith. Praise God!
I pray that our lives end up in the same place as the apostle Paul. Here’s what he said:
2 Timothy 4:7-8 NIV I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
