Good morning people who reproduce after our own intimacy with the Lord.

Exodus 33:11 NIV The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young aide Joshua son of Nun did not leave the tent.

Joshua learnt many things from his leader and mentor, Moses. The greatest of these was being intimate with God.

When Moses met with the Lord face to face at the tent of meeting (Exodus 33:7), he clearly took young Joshua with him. We know this because today’s verse says, “but his young aide Joshua son of Nun did not leave the tent.”

And this got me thinking.

As leaders, do we model intimacy with the Lord to those who are called to be future leaders?

I know that we teach skills and develop gifts and callings, and all of this is wonderful and necessary. But I fear that many spend much more time on these things than on modelling and involving others in our intimate walk with God.

Moses, one of the greatest leaders of all time, took his young aide into the tent of meeting with him. And not only that, but when Moses left the tent, the young aide Joshua stayed in the presence of God.

What is the fruit of our leadership; is it simply those who can ‘do the job’, or is it those who are ‘intimate with the heart of God’?
