Good morning people who pray that people have an encounter with God.
Exodus 4:6-9 NIV Then the Lord said, “Put your hand inside your cloak.” So Moses put his hand into his cloak, and when he took it out, the skin was leprous—it had become as white as snow. “Now put it back into your cloak,” he said. So Moses put his hand back into his cloak, and when he took it out, it was restored, like the rest of his flesh. Then the Lord said, “If they do not believe you or pay attention to the first sign, they may believe the second. But if they do not believe these two signs or listen to you, take some water from the Nile and pour it on the dry ground. The water you take from the river will become blood on the ground.”
Signs are wonderful as they point somewhere. When it comes to supernatural signs, they are intended to point people to God (we talked about this yesterday).
But today, I want to lean into something that may sound a bit different.
Sometimes we can wrongly believe that if people see just one supernatural sign, they will believe. This can happen, but it is not a guarantee.
When people are ‘ripe for harvest’, one sign might be all that is needed. There has already been much sowing and watering and fertilizing the seed. God has been working and it is now time for the final sign to help them step over the line. Praise God for these moments!
But there are plenty of times when a sign or two is insufficient to cause people to respond to God. Without jumping ahead too much, Pharoah saw many signs from God before he let the Israelites go.
So, what is Father wanting to get our attention on today?
Here’s what I feel:
Signs are great and important, but an encounter with God personally is what is most needed.
When you pray for people, pray that they encounter God, for it is Him who changes lives.
