#6051 – A Sign for You

Good morning people who trust the ways in which God does things.

Exodus 3:10-12 NIV So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.” But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” And God said, “I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain.

This is quite funny. Well, it could be if it wasn’t so scary.

Often when God speaks and tells us to do an impossible task, we ask for a sign. We want confirmation from God before we take the first step. We want to make sure this isn’t just us. So, we ask for a sign.

Before Moses even asked for the first sign (which he asked for several), God told Moses that He would give him a sign. How nice of God.

Here’s the sign that God gave to Moses when He asked Moses to deliver a nation of millions out of slavery:

When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain.

Are you serious God?! You’re telling me that the sign will be given after I’ve done what You have said!

“Yes, that’s right” says God.

I’m sitting here literally shaking my head in amazement at how God works. He knows that we “need” a sign, and yet He knows that our greater need is HIM. He said, “I will be with you.” This is more powerful than any sign.

But if you need one, God just might give you one after you obey.

I’m smiling. Are you?
