#3886 – Devotion Time

Good morning people who love spending time with the Father

Jesus left us an example worth following – in every area – including withdrawing regularly to a quiet place to spend time in devotion, communion and intimate prayer with His Father (Luke 22:39).

Here’s something Father highlighted to me afresh:

My devotion time with God is to be my priority.

My gravitational pull is towards ‘hearing from God for others’. But too often, this is an enemy to my devotion time with the Lord.

When I feel God speak to me, I feel that I need to ‘hold back’ on tweeting, writing BIY, sharing with others or preparing (a focus on ‘for others’), and I need to lean into it further ‘for myself’. This is not a selfish act, but rather a returning to First Love act.

Maybe it’s similar for you.

I’m reminded that, devotions with God (having time with Hm) is to be focused on exactly that – time with Him. It is not to be results focused or task driven. When our focus is correct (being with Him), He will often lead us to places that we hadn’t thought about going.

Today, Father simply wants to call us all back to keeping our devotion time as a priority, and to keeping the focus on Him and us enjoying time together.
