#331 – Thanksgiving Walk

Good morning grateful people

I often go for prayer walks. I find I really connect with God this way. I love the fresh air and simply walking and talking to God.

Recently I was reading my Bible and I felt God say “Finish this chapter and then go for a thanksgiving walk”. So I did.

I left feeling a little flat emotionally and came back feeling fantastic. All I did was thank God for things as I felt led. My focus wasn’t on asking God for things but on thanking Him for things. My spirit started to lift. I found that once I started, one thing led to another and thanks flowed easily. I thanked God for my wife and my daughters, I thanked God for recent ministry, I thanked God for His patience with me and for my growth. I gave specific thanks and not simply a general ‘thank you’. It was a wonderful time.

Sometimes praise and thanksgiving is absent from our lives, especially when things are tough or we feel flat. Yet from the Word of God and my experience, I truly believe praise makes a way where there seems to be no way. I believe giving thanks releases God to move on our behalf and it does something wonderful in us. Praise takes the focus off the negative and refocuses us on the positive.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Hey, the bonus with having a thanksgiving walk is you get some of that exercise that you have been mentioning for awhile. It’s a good deal all round so why not have a thanksgiving walk today!
