Good morning people who fight against spiritual opposition and internal opposition
Matthew 6:7-13 MSG The world is full of so-called prayer warriors who are prayer-ignorant. They’re full of formulas and programs and advice, peddling techniques for getting what you want from God. Don’t fall for that nonsense. This is your Father you are dealing with, and He knows better than you what you need. With a God like this loving you, you can pray very simply. Like this: Our Father in heaven, reveal who You are. Set the world right; do what’s best—as above, so below. Keep us alive with three square meals. Keep us forgiven with You and forgiving others. Keep us safe from ourselves and the Devil. You’re in charge! You can do anything You want! You’re ablaze in beauty! Yes. Yes. Yes.
You might be familiar with the NIV version which says: ‘And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’
But when I read this recently in The Message, it resounded in my spirit.
I realize that on my journey to walk daily in freedom, sometimes I need Father to keep me safe from the devil (more likely demons). We are in a spiritual battle and sometimes we forget this or ignore this too often.
But like this verse says, sometimes we need Father’s help to keep us safe from ourselves. This can be in the form of temptation (and in the context of this scripture, I believe this is the correct interpretation). But sometimes temptation does not come in the form of ‘giving in to doing something wrong’, but rather ‘giving in to being against ourselves’. This is a strong form of temptation to many.
I pray that we all have a fresh revelation of how much God is for us. I also pray that we will come into a greater level of being for ourselves.
