Good morning people who speak right

Our tongues are very powerful. In fact, we know the Bible says ‘Life and death are in the power of the tongue’. Our words can either pull people down or build them up. The Book of Wisdom, Proverbs, tells us the following.

Proverbs 4:24 Put away perversity from your mouth; keep corrupt talk far from your lips.

There is a lot of negativity in the world and we can make a difference in our environments simply by how we speak. Let’s look at this today through the eyes of the most important question ‘What is the wise thing to do (say)?’

Someone once said that in conversations we hold in our hands two buckets, one with petrol in it and one with water. By our words we are either pouring fuel onto a fire that will get out of control, or we are pouring water onto sparks and putting them out.

Today we will all have many opportunities to speak to people. Let’s choose to love enough to hold our tongue when things go wrong. Let’s be wise enough to speak words that help a situation and not make it worse. Let’s become people that are known for speaking life and not death.
