Good morning people who move from a self-focus to a God-focus
Psalm 13:1-2,5-6 NIV 1 How long, Lord? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me? 2 How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me? …5 But I trust in Your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in Your salvation. 6 I will sing the Lord’s praise, for He has been good to me.
Oh, the apparent contradiction between what God says in His Word and our ‘reality’.
Yet I take heart in David’s honesty and focus with God.
He is not afraid to speak out what he feels and what is his ‘reality’. Verses 1 and 2 of this Psalm are honest and real cries to the living God.
But David doesn’t stop there.
He goes from ‘God forgetting, God hiding, anxious thoughts, sorrow, and the triumph of his enemy’…
…to ‘I trust You God, I rejoice in You God, and I will sing to You God because You have been good to me’!
Oh, what a beautiful example for us all!
Be real and be honest…but move from ourselves to God, from our ‘reality’ to God’s goodness.
“Will you join me?”
